Andrew Reyes

The work of Andrew Reyes moves freely between genres, provoking associations as it explores the relationships and distinctions between art, the media and popular culture. Central to his critique is an ongoing series of over 300 images, entitled Posters that function as a meditation on the language of photography and the photographic qualities of language. Similarly, his expansive and multidisciplinary approach towards sculpture is a response to the medium’s limitations and possibilities.

Andrew Reyes graduated from the Ontario College of Art & Design in 1988. Recent solo exhibitions include: Goodwater, Toronto (2009); Hallwalls, Buffalo (2008); Diaz Contemporary, Toronto (2007) and the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver (2006). A truly nomadic artist, he lives between Paris, Toronto, Pondicherry and Buenos Aires.
